OMD Travelogue - Day 5

When you’re down in it, trying to navigate it seems so random. Sometimes frustrating. Other times serendipitously easy. Much of the time feels like an endless loop, pointlessly going round and round. Half the time feelings of being utterly lost reign supreme and the other half that feeling of being right on track buoys your spirit.
The real magic happens, though, when you’re able to get a birds eye view. When you stand back and see things with fresh eyes. From this vantage you see that it’s not random at all – that those moments that felt like pointless circling were paramount. Because from this viewpoint you see that all of those paths were interconnected. That each served a purpose – helped build the larger, beautiful picture.
Had a day full of serendipitous, easy connections in the Methow Valley (I might homestead hermit here one day). Floated in the river, leisurely chatted with locals at the Rocking Horse Bakery and did a bit of Rufio maintenance.
All of the driving and adventure so far has been to places I’ve previously visited. Once we cross the Canadian border it will all be new. 2,200 miles of unknown territory. Exciting. Nerve-racking. Adventure.
Five days down. Many to come.
Each week we’ll send you behind the scenes stories & pics from Operation Moto Dog.
