All you need for this project is any old glass bottle or jar, spray paint, and about five minutes of time.
Set your jars out on a piece of cardboard or other protective surface. I used a canning jar and glass beverage bottle – and they both worked great. It’s best to spray in a well ventilated area, preferably outdoors.

Spray your jars with several even, thin coats until you’re satisfied with the coverage. Allow to dry completely.

And that’s it! These vases will perk up any room and look really pretty outside, too.

I think this same idea would look really great with a giant pickle jar or unusually shaped jar. There are so many gorgeous paint colors, too, so the options are endless. What colors will you use?

Beautiful!
Do you spray on the inside?
I just sprayed on the outside and was happy with the way they looked with just that.
Oooo you could cut out shapes from masking tape and stick them on prior to spraying to get a pattern!
I love that idea, Lucy! I’m already brainstorming what shapes I would want to use – sounds like I’ll need to get the spray paint can out again this week
Hi I was just wondering of the paint scraps off easily, since it’s on glass?
Hmmm…I haven’t noticed any scrapage. The bottom seems the most likely to get scraped as it gets the most contact with other objects. The good thing about painting the outside is that you don’t have to worry about scraping the paint when you place flowers inside. I’ll keep you updated, but at this point the paint seems to be sticking really well and there haven’t been any scrapes or chips.
Hi! this is an excellent tutorial! Just wondering – does the paint come off when you put water for flowers in it? Thank you for the great idea =)
Good queston, Gigi. After many rounds of water and flowers I haven’t had any problems with the paint coming off.
