Interviews

In case you didn’t notice, today is Wednesday and I normally post interviews on Monday. What can I say? I’m a sassy little minx :) . But since I didn’t want you to feel deprived and despondent the rest of the week, you get an interview today – yippee!

If you missed it, last week I interviewed the lovely Ev’Yan Nasman of Sex, Love & Liberation.

This week I’m excited to hear from Steve Kamb of Nerd Fitness. Not only do I love the name Nerd Fitness, but I adore how genuine and helpful Steve is. Whether following a Paleo Diet or completing body weight exercises, the emphasis is always on fun and balance.

This interview series is about people who live their dream life – which looks different for everyone and is always evolving – can you describe your current Dream Life?

Hey Mallory, thanks for the opportunity!  I feel like I’m currently living my dream life for many reasons, but one reason above all others – I get to wake up every day with a big smile on my face, 100% in control of how I spend my time and where I decide to spend it.  I’ve found the “thing” that I’m meant to do with my life: help others live a healthier life.  Fortunately, that passion has lead me to running my own business, which means I’m also able to finally get out and see the world, something I hadn’t done for the first 26 years of my life.  In the past six months alone I’ve done push ups in Machu Picchu, Peru, flew a stunt plane in New Zealand, got Scuba certified on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, eaten exotic food in Singapore, skydived, bungy jumped, and more.

If someone is completely new to working out and eating right, what is the one thing they can do right now to start down a healthy path?

PhotobucketOver the last few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing people about authenticity, breaking through barriers, and living their Dream Life. Every Monday, you’ll find a new interview posted. If you missed it, last week I interviewed Sally Hope.

Today I bring you Ev’Yan Nasman of Sex, Love & Liberation. You may know Ev’Yan from her personal blog, Apricot Tea, where she has been unbelievably candid and open. Ev’Yan brings this same openness to SLL, along with a message that is undeniably powerful and necessary – not just nice to read, but NEEDED right this moment. I am constantly inspired and impressed with Ev’Yan’s ability to put her thoughts and feelings out there and get right to the heart of it. So without further ado…

Right now, my dream life consists of working at my own pace, allowing myself to evolve & grow & discover. It’s meeting new people that inspire my work & my purpose. It’s having the freedom to shape my days however I’d like: having breakfast at noon, an impromptu “business meeting” over a lovely Thai meal, brainstorming writing ideas over a glass of wine while lounging on my couch. Waking up next to my best friend, business partner, & lover (all rolled into one) is one of the best things about my life.

In my opinion, we sometimes encounter fear or barriers while following our passions. What has been your biggest barrier and how did you get past it?

PhotobucketOver the last few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing people about living simply, traveling, breaking through barriers, and living their Dream Life. Every Monday, you’ll find a new interview posted. If you missed it, last week I interviewed Matt Madeiro of the blog Three New Leaves.

Today I’m excited to have the fabulous Sally Hope. This girl is a real firecracker. A former rockstar, turned coach. I mean really how cool is that? I was lucky enough to have an inspiration-packed phone session with Sally. And let me tell you, it was awesome. She listens – really listens and understands – and isn’t afraid to call you out and give you a boot in the ass when you need it. If you’re looking for guidance for your business or life, Sally is the gal for you. So let’s get to it.

I’ve been thinking about this question ever since you asked and I have to say, I feel like I am currently living my dream life. Right now I am living in Costa Rica for the month, doing my coaching from here. I feel so fortunate that my business is mobile, that I’m the boss of me and my time, and I can pick up and go wherever I want, barring that there is internet access. To me, my dream life is spending my time the way I want to spend it, having freedom and flexibility, and being able to say yes to opportunities that show up. Right now that’s exactly what I’m doing. HELLS YEAH!!!

That’s awesome – you’re such a rockstar! No seriously you previously played bass guitar in a band. Was there a specific catalyst that made you transition from musician to life coach?
