You

May 27, 2011

You sizzle.

You rock out- in the car, in the kitchen, in life.

You raise children, counsel friends, love fiercely, listen openly.

You take risks, seek pure bliss, follow your true path.

You are talented and creative in your own unique way – even if you don’t realize it.

You learn, grow, constantly push your boundaries, reach for your next level.

You smile.

You laugh.

You cry.

You scream.

You keep going.

You know when to stop.

You succeed.

You fail.

You keep trying until you succeed once again.

You can handle anything.

You know when to ask for help.

You, my darling, are the epitome of fabulous, the very definition of amazing.

You are adored, loved, admired – even if you don’t realize it.

Think Yourself Sexy

May 19, 2011

I have gotten exponentially sexier this week. For reals. I’m smokin’, sizzlin’, crazy sexy. As I sit here – with my hair pulled back, sweaty from yoga class – I’m still sexier than I was this time last week.

I’m not selling a pill, book or plan, but I do have a magic up-your-sexy-formula I want to let you in on. I mean your my shimmery sister, so I gots to tell you my sexy secrets.

Are you ready?

I’ve been telling myself I’m sexy all week long. Really the exact phrase I’ve been using is…

“I am SEXY and POWERFUL.”

And it’s working. I’m getting sexier and more powerful everyday. And that, my friends, is the power of affirmations.

“Eh, what’s an affirmation?” you ask.

Well here’s my favorite of the Merriam Webster definitions:

something affirmed: a positive assertion

Yep it’s super simple, but don’t be fooled. The change that can happen from these positive statements will alter your mood, your day, your life.

People are starting to catch on to the awesome power affirming holds and it has an ever-growing fan base. For example, Ev’Yan has tattooed positive affirmations on her body for a constant reminder. And Caitlin started Operation Beautiful to share the positivity with complete strangers.

The beauty of affirmations is that they’re completely free and easy to integrate into your day. Basically an affirmation is something positive you’ll repeat to yourself throughout the day. You can say it aloud or just think it silently. The important thing is repetition. Aim to think/speak this affirmation 20 times a day.

Here’s a peek at how it’s looked for me this past week:

  • First thing -still snuggly in bed – in the morning, think to myself, “I am sexy and powerful.”
  • Brushing my teeth – “I am sexy and powerful.”
  • Final shavasana – “I am sexy and powerful.”
  • Walking my dog – “I am sexy and powerful.”
  • Lying in bed before falling asleep – “I am sexy and powerful.”

Every time I find my mind wandering towards worry or starting to get negative, I stop it and then repeat my affirmation. And BAM! Instantly I feel more in control and happier.

You guessed it. Your assignment going forth is to practice repeating your affirmation throughout the day. Like I said, right now mine is “I am sexy and powerful,” but maybe you’ve got the whole sexy thing locked-down and want to bring positivity and change to another area of your life. Here are some other affirmation ideas:

  • “I am worthy and capable.”
  • “I love myself just the way I am.”
  • “I am intelligent and talented.”

These are just a few examples, but I encourage you to make up your own. It’s important that the affirmation resonate with you and address an area that’s made you feel uncomfortable.

If you have an affirmation you’ve been using, or plan to use, please share it in the comments. By sharing, you allow us to practice being open and learning from each other.

You are vibrant, worthy, and appreciated. Have a beautiful day.
